MIAMI SHORES, FLA. (WSVN) - A bike shop owner opened his store Monday morning and found about $35,000 worth of expensive bikes had been stolen overnight.
The thieves got away with several cycles from Miami Bikes on the 8800 block of Biscayne Boulevard. “It’s a big hit for us,” said store owner Henry Angulo. “A small business, it’s hard.”
Police said the thieves broke in through the back door of the business and cut the power, sometime late Sunday night, disabling any surveillance equipment in the store.
One of the business owners took 7News inside the family-owned business.
The merchandise they made off with included a specialty electric bike called The B52. Angulo said it is worth $14,000. “They knew what they were taking,” he said. “It’s a very unique bike from Australia. I think there are only three of them in Florida.”
Angulo said the thieves forgot to take the keys to the bike, so he remains hopeful that he might get the bikes back. “It’s unfortunate. You work hard, and then this happens to you,” he said.
If you have any information on this theft, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
