MIAMI (WSVN) - Police are currently investigating the discovery of a body in Miami, and they believe it may have a connection to three people found dead in Collier County.
At around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Miami Police received a call from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office asking to check on the well-being of a woman in an apartment off Northwest 51st Avenue and Fifth Street.
Upon arriving to the dwelling, officers received no response and were forced to enter Apartment 38. Inside the unit, they discovered the body of a woman who was in her 40s.
Miami Police said they are investigating this discovery as a homicide and believe it may have a connection to the discovery of three bodies found in a car along U.S. 41 in Collier County, near the Miami-Dade County line.
“The determination was made to make a forced entry into that apartment,” said Miami Police Lt. Freddie Cruz. “Once our officers entered the apartment, they discovered the body of a young lady in her 40s. At the current moment, we are investigating it as a homicide. This incident could also be linked to a murder-suicide in the Collier County area.”
The woman’s neighbors are perplexed as to what could have taken place so close to their home. “This is a nice place, a quiet place — completely quiet. I don’t know what happened,” said Luis Hernandez.
7News cameras captured people who knew the woman leaving in an SUV. They declined to comment.
Police have not yet released the names of the deceased. “At the current moment, it’s a puzzle that we’re putting together,” said Cruz. “All I can say is that it’s a tragic incident.”
If you have any information on either of these discoveries, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
