CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) - Three people are dead following an overnight single-vehicle crash in Coral Springs.

It happened around 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, along the Sawgrass Expressway, near University Drive. “A vehicle was traveling southbound on the Sawgrass Expressway, at some point lost the road, into the grass median and struck the concrete barrier wall at riverside drive,” said Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Mark Wysocky.

The impact was so strong, pieces of the concrete barrier wall fell below, onto Riverside Drive.

According to officials, two men and one woman were pronounced dead on the scene. Two of them were local, and one was from out of the country.

At this point, all bodies have been removed from the vehicle and transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The vehicle involved, a white Mercedes, was towed away from the scene as crews continued to clean up the roadways.

“It’s too early to tell right now, but we’re looking at speed and whether it’s a factor,” said Wysocky.

FHP has not yet released the victims identities, as they await to notify next of kin.
