MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Several agencies are looking for a 22-year-old man who, officials said, went missing after he ended up in the waters of Biscayne Bay, Friday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the man was on a 17-foot rental boat with his girlfriend and other people when he wound up in the water and did not resurface. Officials said it was unclear how he wound up in the water.

The boater’s family identified him as Tyron Robinson. They said he was visiting South Florida from Washington, D.C. for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The boat was anchored 500 yards north of Belle Island in Miami Beach, according to the Coast Guard.

Cellphone video sent by a 7News viewer captured the large scope of the search just north of the Venetian Causeway.

Robinson’s family said he is the father of a 3-year-old boy. They said, while he does know how to swim, his arm was in a cast at the time of his disappearance.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, City of Miami Fire, Miami Beach Police and the Coast Guard are searching for Robinson.
