KEY BISCAYNE, FLA. (WSVN) - Two men were rescued off Key Biscayne after a boater spotted them floating in the water, early Sunday morning.

According to good Samaritan Jimmy David, he and his family were out fishing when they saw the stranded men in the distance, about four miles off shore.

David said one of the men was waving his life jacket in the air. The good Samaritan pulled alongside the men and helped them into his boat.

David said he was happy to be in the right place, at the right time. “They are very lucky. We were happy we were able to see them,” said David. “There were no other boats around, and the way the wind and tide was going, they were getting pushed out to sea, out to the Gulf Stream, and once they got caught in that, they would have been swept up the coast, so it’s very fortunate we were able to see them.”

The men told David they were on a fishing boat that sank. They said they were in the water for about half an hour before help arrived.

David and his family gave the men towels and water and brought them ashore safely. They are said to be doing OK.
