WEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Surveillance cameras were able to capture the moment two packages were stolen from a West Miami-Dade home.

Zunnette Artigas is in shock after, she said, packages were stolen from her door step, Thursday morning. “It was like a grab and dash situation,” Zunnette said, “and when I check my cameras, I see this thing. I couldn’t believe that they were stealing the packages, you know, something you see on the news.”

Miami-Dade Police responded to Artigas’ home on Southwest 24th Street in West Miami-Dade. Her security camera, which can be seen in plain sight outside her home, captured what is believed to be a woman in a black hoodie and red pants taking the packages. “I went to school to have what I have, and I work my butt off, and I don’t like for somebody to come and take that from me because I don’t think it’s right,” Zunnette said.

The packages contained gifts she ordered online — clothing and bathing suits for her children. “I felt violated,” Zunnette said. “Thank God, I got the cameras, and I’m protected.”

Zunnette used the opportunity to teach her young daughters about the value of hard work. “I don’t like stealing, but if you work for it, it’s OK,” said Zunnette’s daughter Izabella Artigas. “If you steal, it’s like you’re robbing a place.”

Zunnette’s other daughter, Anabella Artigas echoed her sister’s statements. “They have to say sorry because you have to work for it,” Anabella said.

Zunnette said she has lived in her home for six years and has had plenty of packages delivered to her home before, and this was the first time something like this has happened.

If you have any information on this burglary, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
