MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) — Two men are dead after their car drove into a Miramar canal, Saturday.
Officers responded to the scene at Southwest 132nd Avenue and Old Miramar Parkway.
According to Miramar Police, neighbors saw headlights in the canal and immediately called 911. Five officers pulled two men out of the water and performed CPR, but they died at the scene.
The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Alfredo Rodriguez and 43-year-old Luis Rodriguez Vidal. Neighbors said the two victims were cousins who lived in the area.
Investigators are working to figure out how the car ended up in the canal. Neighbors said that when the car was pulled out of the water, it appeared it had backed in.
Neighbors also said the canal is hard to see at night and almost appears to be pitch black, so it is easy to miss.
