KEY LARGO, FLA. (WSVN) - Eighteen Cuban migrants saw their dreams of remaining in the U.S. dashed after they were sent back to the island nation, Thursday.

The group was found near Key Largo, Sunday. The boater who encountered them at sea recorded the moment they crossed paths on cellphone video.

The boater and his son gave the migrants food and water. From there, the migrants decided it was best to call the U.S. Coast Guard for help.

The migrants were among 46 who were sent back to Cuba on Thursday.
