POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - An 11-year-old boy with autism who went missing from his home in Pompano Beach, Wednesday afternoon, has been found safe, authorities said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies located Malik Sands, an autistic boy who was reported missing around 3:20 p.m., Wednesday, from his home at 3030 N.W. 6th Court.

The 11-year-old stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. Before his disappearance, he was seen wearing a royal blue shirt, blue jean shorts and Adidas sneakers.

BSO deployed its bloodhound unit and helicopter in the search for Sands.

The boy, who had a non-motorized scooter, was found by an alert BSO deputy along the 3oo block of West Atlantic Boulevard, in Pompano Beach.

Sands was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
