LAKE WALES, Fla. (AP) — Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver who fatally struck a 33-year-old Tampa woman and seriously injured a sheriff’s deputy who’d stopped to help after her car ran off the road.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced the award in a news release sent Monday.

According to an incident report, Jessica Enchautegui-Otero was standing in a grass median around 12:35 a.m. Saturday when 25-year-old Deputy Adam Pennell stopped to help. A few minutes later a car hit them. The woman died and the deputy suffered a shattered pelvis, broken hip and other broken bones.

News outlets report she was the third child Reinaldo Enchauteguis has lost. His son died in a 2000 car crash and his other son died Oct. 2.
