PALMETTO BAY, Fla. (WSVN) — Rescue crews found a dead body after a fire broke out at a home in Palmetto Bay, early Saturday morning.
According to Miami-Dade Police, firefighters found the deceased person and at least one dead dog after they put out the blaze at a house located near Southwest 172nd Terrace and 88th Court, just after 1:30 a.m.
Officials said the victim was badly burned, and will have to be identified using dental records.
A neighbor fearing the worst said a friendly woman lived at the residence. “As far as I know, she lives alone, and we didn’t see her come out,” said Ryan Kocourek, “so were all kinda worried and hoping she’s all right.”
Investigators believe this may be a case of arson.
