MIAMI (WSVN) — A 16-year-old accused of stealing a Miami-Dade Police cruiser has been set up with a date in court.

Arkevious Huntley is scheduled to face a judge on June 2. Huntley was arrested after he fled in an unoccupied Miami-Dade Police cruiser, on April 2. "I’m standing in front of the children’s court house for my only son, a 16-year-old that has been raised well, that has led astray but at the end of the day will see the light," Huntley’s mother said.

Police were called to the Huntley home when his mother said he was causing a disturbance. He is accused of stealing an unlocked cruiser leading police on a chase that damaged three civilian cars.

The suspect lost control and crashed into a building at Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 175th Street, where he was taken into custody.
