MIAMI (WSVN) — A former congressman marched with activists in a pro-immigration rally in Downtown Miami, Sunday.
Joe Garcia joined hundreds of demonstrators in speaking out against what they called the anti-immigration positions of the Republican candidates for president. Participants met at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center and marched over to the Torch of Friendship.
Garcia was the lead sponsor of the only bipartisan, comprehensive immigration bill to be filed in the House of Representatives since 2013.
Today we march to stop hate against #immigrants. Time to #PassCIR and move our community forward. #UnitedAgainstHate pic.twitter.com/HOnjaw6buF
