CUTLER BAY, Fla. (WSVN) — The Habitat ReStore held a grand opening for its new store on Saturday.

The new store is located at 20811 S. Dixie Highway and is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There’s also a Habitat ReStore in Fort Lauderdale at 505 West Broward Boulevard.

The non-profit organization said the money raised at Habitat ReStore goes to Habitat for Humanity homes. “Every single dollar we raise from this store goes to our mission of helping families get into homes,” said Habitat For Humanity of Greater Miami CEO Mario Articona. “That’s what Habitat does: help low income families reach the dream of home ownership.”

Now customers can contribute to that dream by giving their own homes an upgrade. A variety of items are on the shelves inside the Habitat ReStore, including “furniture, home goods, building supplies– anything for the home,” said customer Angel Colom.

And all of it at a bargain you just will not find at department stores. “Way better price here,” said Colom. “What you get here for 200 bucks would be 1,000 bucks at Home Depot.”

Colom added that he may need a truck after buying supplies at a great price. “You never know, come here to get one thing and end up leaving with a whole bunch,” said Colom. “Might have to get a U-Haul by the time we’re done.”

On opening day, Habitat ReStore’s customers showed up in droves to check out the inventory. “Very encouraging when we opened the doors this morning to see that many people standing outside waiting to get in,” said Articona.

Every dollar that goes into the register and on to the customers’ homes helps put another piece of a house together for a family in need. “Just amazing how much people want to contribute to the community,” said customer Dianette Wynn.
