FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — Fort Lauderdale firefighters came to the rescue of a newborn kitten.

The tiny kitten, no more than a couple days old, was heard meowing inside a pipe outside an apartment complex near West Dixie Court, in Fort Lauderdale, Thursday morning.

According to fire officials, the tiny gray kitten still had its umbilical cord attached and hadn’t yet opened its eyes. The firefighters named the kitten "Hope" after the amazing rescue.

It did not take long for fire officials to find the kitten a home. The kitten has a foster home where it lives with an adult, female cat who can nurse it.
