MIAMI (WSVN) — Forever 21 is under fire once again for selling a T-shirt many people say alludes to rape.
The shirt, which says, "Don’t say maybe if you want to say no," was being sold by the popular retailer until the Internet went into a frenzy. It has since been pulled from the shelves.
One tweet from @lwald13 read, "Forever 21 how about we not perpetuate rape culture with your $19.99 shirt." Another tweet from Kristin Dakota said, "Forever 21 is selling a shirt that says, "Don’t say maybe if you want to say no.’ How about don’t do something if you don’t hear yes."
However, not everyone was offended by the controversial clothing item. Lindsey Fram tweeted, "I’m not not one to shrug this kind of stuff off, but, in this case, you’re looking for something that’s just not there."
Forever 21 issued a statement that reads, "Forever 21 strives to exemplify the highest ethical standards, and takes feedback and product concerns very seriously. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the product."
This is not the first time a graphic T-shirt from Forever 21 has caused a stir, but this one in particular has struck a nerve.
