NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) — Federal authorities have conducted a raid at a warehouse in Northwest Miami-Dade but have not revealed what they found inside.
Agents with the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration swarmed the area surrounding the warehouse, located on the corner of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 107th Street, Thursday, at around 10:30 a.m.
Dozens of firefighters and bomb squad personnel stood by as officers circled the area with K-9s and brought in armored vehicles, drawing the attention of area residents. "As I came downstairs, I saw the big trucks, guys with guns, a lot of police and FBI," said Bobby Latimer. "It seemed to me a lot more FBI then police."
Tarriq Jarrar, a manager at nearby Beauty Exchange, first noticed the commotion when he looked at surveillance video. "I was at my office, I looked at the camera, and I just see a whole bunch of tank trucks coming in," he said. "Then I just see FBI, ATF, and I ran out here and looked. Then I went to the back to see, and I got a couple of pictures, but they weren’t letting anyone stand there, so I had to go back inside."
At least four men have been detained. At around 5 p.m., two of them were sitting in the back of a squad car.
Witnesses said they watched agents bring out the four men in handcuffs. "They brought them outside and lay them on the ground," said Latimer.
Latimer said they also brought out what looked like thousands of dollars in cash and more than a dozen weapons. "Handguns and, like, AK-47s, that kind of stuff," he said.
Officials have not specified what they have found inside the warehouse or what led them there in the first place. The investigation continues.
