FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — The Fort Lauderdale Air Show is set to take place this upcoming weekend with some of the fastest and fiercest jets ever to fly.
Friday was the last chance for high octane acts in the Fort Lauderdale Air Show to rehearse their high altitude tricks.
Beginning Saturday morning, the sands on Fort Lauderdale Beach will be filled with spectators with an eye to the sky. "Come early, bring your cooler, bring your sunscreen, bring a chair and just prepare to be wowed for four hours," said Kathy Bassett, spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Air Show.
Some fans couldn’t wait for Saturday’s show and decided to check out the rehearsal on Friday. "It’s amazing," said one spectator. "I feel like a little kid. I’m super excited to be here."
Parachuters landed on the beach while jets raced up and down the shoreline. "There’s constant motion above you," said one woman, "with all the different planes and the Coast Guard and the F-16s, the acrobatic planes. It’s a lot of fun."
Vendors pitched their tents to hopefully be spotted by the thousands of air show fans that are expected to show up on Saturday and Sunday.
The fun begins at 9 a.m. with the jets scheduled to take flight at 11 a.m. "I’m extremely excited the air show is back here this year," said one patron, "very excited."
This weekend will mark the first time in three years the show returns to the skies.
