BOCA RATON, Fla. (WSVN) — Parents of an exchange student are speaking out on the student’s close call with a great white shark.
The exchange student and her group of snorkelers were near Islamorada, Saturday, when the shark approached them. Her Boca Raton host parents were the first to spot it and grabbed their camera.
"I came out to the side of the boat," said one parent, "and I didn’t want to yell because I didn’t want all of the kids to get freaked out. I said, ‘There’s a big shark,’ and he said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, we have sharks. I said, ‘No, a big shark!’"
The snorkelers were mesmerized as the shark circled their boat.
There were two sightings of great white sharks in the Keys over the weekend.
The second one was spotted off Key West by the Bulldog Cartel Fishing Team.
