LOS ANGELES (AP) – Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight is scheduled to attend a court hearing Monday to determine whether he can post bail and leave jail in a deadly hit-and-run.
Knight is charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run after police say he ran down and killed one man and seriously injured another after a late January fight in a Compton parking lot.
Knight, who created the music label that helped solidify West Coast rap and attracted Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He’s being held without bail after prosecutors argued he was a flight risk.
His attorneys have said Knight was trying to flee a vicious attack when he hit the men with his pickup truck, killing 55-year-old Terry Carter. Authorities allege he intentionally hit them.
