WSVN — New details have surfaced in the state ethics probe of Deerfield Beach Mayor Jean Robb. She’s accused of dirty politics, and she could end up losing her job. It’s a follow-up to a story you saw first on 7. Here’s investigative reporter Carmel Cafiero.

Deerfield Beach Mayor Jean Robb may be in her 80s, but age hasn’t taken the fight out of her.

Mayor Jean Robb: "You impugned my honesty by saying that I demanded that the sheriff give somebody a job. Well, dammit, I did not!"

That battle’s over. But now she’s got trouble from the State Ethics Commission, which has found probable cause she misused her office by taking donations for her charities and in return protected the donor from code enforcement.

It’s an allegation first revealed in a report by the Broward Inspector General’s Office.

Jodie Breece, Broward Inspector General’s Office: "There were three different kinds of violations that they found. One, the corrupt misuses of her position. Second, unauthorized compensation, accepting that. And also accepting an unauthorized gift."

The State Ethics Commission also alleges Robb misused her position by ordering city staffers to issue a beach parking sticker to her pastor and arranging for a street sweeper to clean her church parking lot.

Mayor Jean Robb: "You’re not getting anything from me."

Carmel Cafiero: "Why not?"

Mayor Jean Robb: "I know you for ages."

Carmel Cafiero: "Oh, don’t touch me."

When I first tried to talk with the mayor about her ethics, it was late 2014. She grabbed my wrist and asked me to leave.

Mayor Jean Robb: "Would you please get out of here?"

The Ethics Commission won’t be so easy to dismiss. Depending on the results of a hearing, it could fine Mayor Robb or remove her from office.

Carmel Cafiero, 7News.

The mayor’s attorney says he is confident once the evidence comes out, she will be vindicated.
