NASSAU, Bahamas (WSVN) — Passengers experienced quite a scare after an engine malfunctioned on a flight to the Bahamas.

The flight had just taken off from Nassau and was heading to Grand Bahama when the engine suddenly stopped mid-air. Video from photographer Tim Aylen shows the propeller by the window starting to shut down.

Passengers on the flight united in prayer, hoping they would make it back to land.

Aylen explained what happened on the flight. "Hearing a loud bang and then everybody kind of acted a little bit crazily to the sight of the engine shutting down," he said. "This was right over the Berry Islands. We were about ten minutes into the flight and we just turned around back."

The pilot safely landed in in Nassau where passenger were able to board another flight for Freeport.

Two passengers were taken to the hospital, possibly suffering from high-blood pressure. It is currently unclear what caused the engine to fail.
