WSVN — Join 7’s Belkys Nerey as she shows you an easy way to peel fresh garlic.

Belkys Nerey: "Hey, everybody, I’m Belkys Nerey with this Online Extra. If you’re like me, you love using fresh garlic, but peeling it and dealing with the skin is just such a pain. It gets everywhere. It’s sticky, your hands are wet, it’s cumbersome, it’s a nightmare. I’m going to show you a trick."

Belkys Nerey: "You want to start with a bulb of garlic. Separate it — that part’s easy — and then, as you separate, you can already see- the skin is everywhere. It’s already a mess. Then, take your cloves, separate them one step further, and then take the back of a knife and just start to smash.

Belkys Nerey: "Now grab a plastic container and throw them all right in there. Then take your container and shake it up. Take that, garlic. Ha!"

Belkys Nerey: "Now when you open it, the garlic has separated from the skin and you have a skinless piece of garlic ready for mincing, dicing, slicing, sauteeing, making everything delicious and fragrant. Buon appetito!"
