HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) — Police are searching for two people in connection to a crash that left a barbershop in Hollywood with significant damage after, police said, a driver slammed into the storefront, then sped away.
Surveillance cameras rolled at Haircuts Manhattan 2, in the area of Johnson Street and North 64th Avenue, Saturday, just after midnight, as a man and a woman stood next to of a silver sedan. Moments later, the car is seen careening toward the storefront, nearly hitting the woman as it shattered the business’ door and window.
Witness Linda Keiss said she heard a deafening sound. "It was like a big boom, you know, and you heard it," she said.
The video goes on to show the woman leaning in through the passenger side window and walking away as the car backed up. She could be seen looking at the damage before hopping back into her seat before the driver took off.
"I was hoping nobody was hurt, and then they took off, and I was hoping they were hurt," said Keiss.
7News captured the messy aftermath, Saturday afternoon. The door and front window were later boarded up. Below the window, several canary yellow bricks were cracked.
As the owner of Haircuts Manhattan 2 is left to deal with a considerable cleanup effort, Keiss has a message for the couple in the car. "That is just wrong. It is. Take responsibility for what you do," she said.
The business owner urged anyone with information about the couple captured on camera to contact authorities. If you have any information on their whereabouts, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
