WSVN — Looking for a new place to spend a night out on the town? We’ll show you a hotel bar with a prescription to party and take you to a new hotel where there’s a chill Thursday night party made for locals. 7’s Belkys Nerey has all the hot spots in tonight’s Style File.
They didn’t go to med school, but bartenders at the new Drawing Room Bar and Lounge are mixing up cocktails to cure what ails you.
Albert Trummer: “I like to give you an order of a special prescription if you’re tired or closing the day.”
The new lounge has an apothecary theme, and mixologist Albert Trummer practices cocktail chemistry creating his own special elixirs.
Albert Trummer: “Elixirs based on natural herbs and botanicals. I’ve worked with major nutritionists in New York and around the world.”
Had a long week?
Carlos Salas: “Definitely some stress release.”
Bartenders dressed in lab coats will offer you a remedy in a glass, like a Stress Reliever cocktail. There are also aphrodisiac drinks to help get you in the mood, and health and beauty potions made with good-for-you ingredients.
Carlos Salas: “I don’t know if I’m more beautiful, but I’m definitely feeling good.”
Lane Nieset: “A great tasting drink without a hangover that’s also really yummy.”
Trummer will often light up the night with his fire and ice show.
Albert Trummer: “It’s a combination of champagne, a special liquid nitrogen, and it’s also one of my elixirs. Elixir Number 6, an elderflower walnut elixir.”
Lane Nieset: “It’s a beautiful presentation.”
Another happening spot: Vintro Hotel and Kitchen. The party here: Sunset Chill. It starts when the sun goes down, and it keeps going until the stars come out. So you can party as little or as much as you want. Cheers!
Katrina Perez: “It’s definitely away from the Ocean Drive crowd. It’s a little bit more intimate. You kinda find this place on your own. Let’s just keep it a secret! Shhhh!”
The playful new hotel is located in Collins Park, and the rooftop party happens every Thursday night at 6 p.m.
There are drink specials, a small menu of light bites, and artists showing off their work.
Kate Lane: “We have our ping-pong table. We have the DJ in one corner, and we have four separate bars, so no matter where you are, there’s always something fun to do.”
The hotel itself is really special, with an elevator fashioned to look like a bookstore, Art Deco and pop art everywhere you turn, even a porthole window that looks into the downstairs kitchen.
Belkys Nerey: “It’s like a free peep show!”
Belkys Nerey: “Now that the weather is cooling a little bit, you can actually be on a rooftop and enjoy it.”
David: “Yeah, without sweating.”
Belkys Nerey: “And has wearing long sleeves. This is the proof right here. There ya go!”
Again, the Sunset Chill party runs every Thursday night from 6 to 11 p.m. The Drawing Room is located at the newly renovated Shelborne Wyndham Grand on South Beach.
