HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) — About 1,000 homes lost electricity after a crane in the area toppled over, knocking down several power lines, Friday afternoon.
Rescue crews responded to the scene in the area of West Fourth Avenue and 53rd Street in Hialeah, at around 4:20 p.m. Officials said a construction crew was performing roadside work along a service road when the crane hit a soft spot, creating a small sinkhole before buckling.
Crews have closed the road to traffic in all directions while they clear the scene.
According to Florida Power and Light, 312 customers remained without power as of early Saturday morning. A report released by FPL reads in part, “We have completed our initial investigation of your power outage and determined that additional resources are necessary to restore power. We will continue to work until the power is back on.”
No one was hurt.
