WESTON, Fla. (WSVN) — Some skilled chess players of all ages tried to avoid checkmate in a South Florida competition held this weekend.
The Mayors’ Chess Challenge finals for the 2015-2016 school year wrapped up at Weston Regional Park, Saturday. The event invited families across Broward County to join elected officials and community leaders for a fun, free and friendly chess meet-up.
The events have drawn thousands of chess enthusiasts in support of the game’s benefits in the academic environment and in the community.
