MIAMI (WSVN) — Charges were dropped against a South Florida man accused of sexually assaulting a little girl.

Clenol Jean was arrested after a 4-year-old girl claimed he touched her inappropriately at her grandmother’s house in North Miami, where she runs a day care and where Jean also lives.

Officials charged him with five counts of sexual battery for the alleged incident.

On Friday, one day after he was released from custody, a state attorney dropped the charges. According to the report, the state attorney did this as a formality, but now the state attorney’s office is dropping those charges.

Jean spent eight days behind bars — always claiming his innocence — even losing his job at a Plantation Charter School.

His attorney said they plan to take legal action against the detective who arrested him in the first place, saying it should have never happened.
