SUNRISE, Fla. (WSVN) — A car smashed into an apartment complex in Sunrise, Wednesday.

According to officials, the vehicle was driving southbound when it crossed over a median and then crashed into a wall of an apartment complex. It then skidded across the parking lot, slammed into a parked pickup truck before it smashed into another wall. The incident occurred at 7041 Sunset Strip, in Sunrise.

"I just got out of the shower, and I heard a big explosion," said Nancy Schnetzer, who lives nearby and witnessed the incident. "I ran out here, and the car spun from that side of the street, right in here, hit that wall and hit that truck."

Police said two people were inside the white Ford sedan at the time of the accident. They were both transported to Broward Health Medical Center with unclear injuries.

"I felt like vibration, like, ‘Boom!,’ and I ran down here, and I see the commotion," said Clarence Moore, another neighbor.

One person was inside the apartment who suffered minor injuries and was not sent to the hospital.

The car was taken away from the scene soon after the crash. Late Wednesday afternoon, construction crews boarded up the hole on the side of the building. Eventually, they will have an inspector declare if the apartment complex is still OK to reside in.
