NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office honored deputies who died in the line of duty with a somber ceremony.

Officials alongside friends and family honored the fallen heroes, Tuesday.

They paid tribute to the 32 men and women who served in law enforcement, detention, fire rescue and emergency services, including Sergeant Chris Reyka, who was killed in 2007. "They take this time every year to remember the ones that we remember every day," said Reyka’s daughter, Ashley Steele, "and I know that law enforcement remembers them every day, but it’s nice to have a day where we can get together to take a moment from our busy lives."

Reyka was shot to death while checking out a suspicious vehicle outside a Pompano Beach drug store.

His killer has not been caught.
