SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) — Crews are battling a brush fire that flared back up at a South Florida park and has doubled in size since Tuesday morning.
The Florida Fire Rescue Service and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue have been setting backfires since 11 a.m. trying to bring the fire under control.
The brush fire, which doubled in size to about 25 acres, was burning next to Larry and Penny Thompson Park along Southwest 147th Avenue and Eureka Drive.
Crews announced it was under control shortly before 2 p.m. but about 45 minutes later the fire started up again right by Robert Morgan Senior High School, near 184th Street and Southwest 128th Avenue.
Crews are working to keep the fire from spreading.
There are no road closures and no structures threatened at this time.
