FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — The murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been briefly delayed as the judge questioned nine jurors.
Friday’s delay was not immediately explained by the judge. It came the day Hernandez’s fiancee was expected to be called to the stand.
Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh said she had received a juror note.
Nine of the 16 people on the jury were then brought in and questioned privately by the judge while Hernandez, his lawyers and prosecutors huddled around the bench.
After the questioning, they argued about what prosecutors can ask Hernandez’s fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, when she is called to testify. Jenkins has been granted immunity, which means she can be compelled to testify or face time behind bars.
