The 305 is buzzing over a new blend of Latin American flavors! That’s what’s on the menu tonight as we grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Dish: Toston Burger

Ingredients:
2 green plantains
2 cups canola oil

Toston burger seasoning
3 tsp. granulated garlic
3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
Lettuce for garnish
4 slices tomato
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese

Cilantro sauce
8 oz. mayonnaise
1 tsp. granulated garlic
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro
1 oz. white vinegar
1/2 oz. lemon juice
1 tsp. fresh parsley
Method of Preparation:
– Make the cilantro sauce by combining mayonnaise, cilantro, vinegar, lemon juice, parsley, granulated garlic and salt in a blender. Blend until smooth and set aside.

– Season tostones with granulated garlic, onion powder, ground black pepper and salt. Peel green plantains and cut into three-inch slices. Fry the slices in canola oil at 375 degrees for three minutes. When light golden color and semi-soft, remove and drain. Smash them into flat rounds and fry for another three minutes. When they are crisp and deep golden brown, remove and drain. Sprinkle with toston seasoning again and set aside.

– Grill hamburger patties with seasoning on both sides. Coat griddle in canola oil and cook patties to medium well, about four minutes on each side. Top each patty with one slice of Monterey Jack cheese and allow to melt.

To Plate:

Set each patty on top of a seasoned toston. Top with lettuce, tomato and drizzle with cilantro sauce. Serve with a side of sweet potato tots!
