Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are two of Hollywood’s sexiest leading men. Now they’re kickin’ it old skool ’70s sexy in “The Nice Guys” — a movie that makes even less sense than bell bottoms.
Don’t let the title fool you … these guys aren’t that nice.
“The Nice Guys” is sort of a spoof on the ’70s buddy cop crime drama.
The plot can get a little convoluted, a lawyer is helping the automakers cover up a scandal, so her daughter does the logical thing.
Confused? You’re not alone! The real fun in this movie is seeing some big stars: Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, and Matt Bomer pushing themselves to take risks.
Russell Crowe: “This arrived as a comedy and I wasn’t predisposed to doing a comedy.”
Russell was looking for more dramatic roles, but he found a way to make it work, making a dark character fun-ish.
For others, it was about getting the right look.
Matt Bomer is known for rocking a seriously stylish head of hair…
The makeup guys found a great wig.
Matt Bomer: “That wasn’t a wig, that was my hair.”
How is he willing to admit to that?
Matt Bomer: “I’m not worried about whether my hair looks good. I just want to pay homage to the time period.”
Ryan was sportin’ a serious pornstache, and like Matt, it’s all him!
Ryan Gosling: “I grew my own facial hair for this film. Very dedicated in that way.”
Russell Crowe: “The thing is about Ryan’s pornstache is that he just had that. He didn’t grow it for the movie. That’s who he likes to be in his own life.”
Ryan also takes a break from his usual sexy, self-confident roles for some physical comedy.
Ryan Gosling: “I love that stuff. It always makes me laugh. Ever since forever, I just never thought that I’d get a chance to do it.”
“The Nice Guys” grooves into theaters May 20.
