Buildings are already 3D objects, but an amazing new light show is making them even "3-D-ier." Deco chief lighting technician Chris Van Vliet is live in Fort Lauderdale with a look at the awesome new show.
Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. That’s really what the building looks like. The Ocean Resort Residences Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach is getting ready to open its doors and this 3-D visual light show is helping to celebrate.
Shawn Zarbatany: "What we’re doing with this projection lighting tonight is really showcasing what the future of Fort Lauderdale is going to look like."
And the future looks bright– this light show is specifically mapped out to highlight the unique architecture of the building and took a year to put together.
Shawn Zarbatany: "We’re using 70,000 lumens to project and the image quality on the building, just to put it in perspective is better than a 4K television."
On the inside, the Conrad has 109 condo units and 181 condo-hotel rooms. And check out these interiors– designed to look and feel like the inside of a yacht. But it’s the exterior that draws you in from miles away.
Shawn Zarbatany: "It’s going to become iconic. It’s really something unique, not only to the property but unique to the new Fort Lauderdale and it’s really going to give that sense of excitement that Fort Lauderdale has been waiting for."
There are three light shows every night– one at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. They’re planning to run until the end of March.
