You can go get coffee just about anywhere these days, but the coffee shop in this story comes to you. Our coffee connoisseur Chris Van Vliet is here with the story.
Whether you’re a double mocha frappuccino kind of person or you just like a plain old cup of Joe, there’s no shortage of places to get your fix — but the guy in this story put his love of coffee on wheels.
Grabbing a cup of coffee is a daily ritual for many of us, but thanks to a local cycling fanatic — you don’t have to find a coffee shop, he’ll bring the java to you.
Edilson Cremonese, coffee pedaler: "I started putting this idea together to put two passions that I had together, which is cycling and coffee."
The Coffee Hub Cafe is the world’s first, human powered coffee stand. Edilson Cremonese owns the first one in the U.S.
It has a commercial grade espresso maker, a water pump and a pedal powered bean grinder.
Edilson Cremonese: "I don’t require any electricity, everything comes from my legs… I don’t depend on anyone to serve one of the best cups of coffee in South Florida."
Folks at this Weston office park were buzzing.
Customer 1: "Seeing your coffee being brewed by someone pedaling a bike is really interesting."
Customer 2: "I’m Colombian myself and we love coffee. This is outstanding."
If you’re wondering if Edilson ever gets tired, he’s got a little more training than your average barista.
Edilson Cremonese: "I’ve been cycling for 15 years, racing all over the country, all over the world, and I consider myself having pretty strong legs. I did an event one day where I ended up pulling 360 shots."
Customer 3: "It’s not too bitter, it’s not too strong."
Customer 4: "It’s amazing… great idea. Never seen it anywhere else."
The Coffee Hub makes stops all over Broward County. Looks like this coffee shop — is on a roll.
Edilson Cremonese: "The customer comes here, they stand behind the counter asking questions, interacting with me. They can experience that coffee shop, the real coffee shop experience."
