Nearly all of Hollywood spent a night at the museum last night in the Big Apple. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute that is, for this year’s Met Gala.
And they got all dressed up in droves to vogue with fashion boss Anna Wintour.
Bling was the thing at the Met Gala in Manhattan last night. This year’s theme — Fashion in the Age of Technology — seemed to bring out the sexy robot in everyone.
Anna Wintour: "It’s all about the marriage of the hand in the machine."
Vogue fashion queen Anna Wintour co-hosted the charity event — along with Taylor Swift and Idris Elba.
Idris Elba: "This is the pinnacle, you know what I mean? I’ve never been to the Met Gala before so to be chairing — it is a big deal."
Lady Gaga’s get-up was a super sexy Versace with no pants. Nicki Minaj busted out in a strappy Moschino… while Madonna rocked a leather and lace look reminiscent of her erotica days… and Madge was lovin’ the limelight.
Madonna: "The most absurd thing about being here is that we’re here because we’ve accomplished absolutely nothing."
Amy Schumer rocked a red Alexander Wang while J-Hud was decked out in H & M.
Jennifer Hudson: "I feel like I represent every girl today, you know and every walk of life."
Kim and Kanye West blinged out in Balmain…
Kim Kardashian: "Kanye’s look was a little bit more downplayed with the denim mixed with all the Balmain bling and I just wanted to really go for it, I mean, kind of like a robot. A blingy, sexy robot."
Queen Bey left Jay Z at home — struttin’ alone in a latex Givenchy, while Rita Ora flaunted her curves in cutouts all over her feathered Vera Wang. But one dress stole the show — it’s by Zac Posen — and Claire Danes rocked it.
Tay Tay got the party poppin’ with Tom Hiddleston, and Katy Perry got photo-bombed by boyfriend Orlando Bloom. But all the stars — not just Madonna — got a chance to strike a pose inside the trippy Vogue booth.
A lot of people are talking about what Lorde was wearing, too. Not for her dress, but for an accessory… a very unusual accessory.
For her, the Met Gala was a "cast party" — ’cause she showed up wearing one. By the end of the night, it was the most A-list cast in history, signed by lots of stars including Yeezus and Taylor Swift.
No word on how Lorde broke her arm, but we hear the cast is fiberglass-couture in eggshell white, designed by Vera Wang.
