So my guy and I head to brunch in Broward this past Sunday to try this Tap 42 place I keep hearing about. We arrive around 12:30 and OMG it is slammed!!! There's a 2 hour wait for a table and people have no problem waiting!!!! I look around the indoor and outdoor area and I have to remind myself this is Sunday brunch and not Friday night Happy Hour. It's like "Sunday Funday" ground zero.
And why not? Tap 42 is fun and unpretentious and the food is good. It's great "day after Saturday night drinking food." Things like spicy crab and tuna rolls ($12.50) and skillet spinach artichoke dip ($10.50) are just right to refuel after that Saturday night damage. The rolls aren't Asian style they are new England style served in a classic potato bun. The artichoke dip comes with homemade tortilla chips making dipping even more dope. The green eggs and ham benedict ($14.00) come with pulled pork on bacon cheddar toast. Bacon cheddar toast!!!!!! Can you believe such a thing??? And Tap 42's white chocolate strawberry pancakes ($13)….just soooo decadent and delicious. The only bad thing about getting the pancakes is we were so full we couldn't order the oven baked shrimp mac & cheese. I saw servers carry the dish a few times to some nearby tables and damn, it looked mmmmm, mmmmmm, good!
Maybe next time we'll take a mac and cheese to go. It might make "Miserable Monday" a little more fun.
