If fireworks aren’t your thing for the Fourth, you can always check out a movie. Four new films hit theaters this weekend, including a big one in this week’s “Showtime.”

A little orphan named Sophie and a big friendly giant take on his evil brothers in “The BFG.”

The giants are animated with the help of CGI — that’s why they look so much like the actors who voice them.

Jemaine Clement: “You have dots all over your body and your face, and each dot controls a point on the animated character, so you know, if I smile on this side, that’s what would happen with the CGI character.”

We purge politicians with votes, but in “The Purge: Election Year,” they have different means at their disposal. No politicians were hurt in the making of this movie … yet.

No one says it like Samuel L. Jackson. In “The Legend of Tarzan” our man-boy is all man, and he’s going back to the jungle!

Alexander Skarsgård: “You meet Tarzan as Lord Greystroke. Where he’s already left the jungle 10 years ago, and he lives in London with his wife Jane and then he’s forced to go back.”

Daniel Radcliffe takes a beating in “Swiss Army Man.”

Trapped on an island, a man loses hope until a body washes ashore and gives the man new hope for a new life.
