It’s a popular South Florida hot spot located in the heart of South Beach. And for over a year now, Tom Colicchio’s Beachcraft restaurant inside the 1 Hotel on Collins Avenue has been serving up high quality farm-to-table dishes to both locals and tourists.

These days, Beachcraft has really gone to the dogs. The South Beach Beachcraft is celebrating man’s best friend with a special meal — on the house.

Stephen Ullrich, Executive Chef at Beachcraft: “As a dog owner, I know how important it is for the dogs to be well nourished, and more importantly, have a well-balanced diet. And so, quite frankly, when this came up, I jumped at the opportunity because I do this for my dog every day at home anyways.”

Executive Chef Stephen Ullrich is the mastermind behind the two pup-plate offerings.

No Kibbles ‘n Bits here! Dogs visiting Beachcraft this month get the gourmet treatment.

Stephen Ullrich: “We’re gonna feature two dishes, basically, for the two different tiers of dogs that we have.”

Hefty hounds weighing more than 10 pounds get to chow down on the protein-packed Paleo Pup Bowl. It features a mixture of raw beef, blueberries and veggies — with a golden surprise on top.

Stephen Ullrich: “And I like to top it for my dog with a little fresh egg yolk. The egg yolk gives a lot, a lot of calcium.”

Smaller pooches will get to munch on freshly baked treats made with chicken, liver and bacon — and topped with a ketchup glaze.

Chef’s dog, Fritz, was the inspiration behind them.

Stephen Ullrich: “Every time that I take them out of the oven, he’s hovering around me for the next half hour waiting for them to cool down. So I know that every dog that comes in is gonna really, really enjoy them.”

The staff’s pulling out all the stops to make these guys feel like doggy royalty.

And the pups? Well, they’re just eating it up.

How’s the food, Stella? She’s got her mouth full, but we’re pretty sure that means four paws up.

Monica Lewinger, diner: “To know that I know what’s going into my dog is really fantastic. She absolutely loved it, and I loved watching her enjoy it.”

If you and your pet are heading to Beachcraft — it’s simple. You order an entrée, and your dog eats free. But they can still pitch in for the tip.
