Unicorns! They do exist! They exist inside Pao by Paul Qui’s beautiful dining room at the uber hip Faena Hotel on Miami Beach. The Top Chef Champ and James Beard award winner really gets it right with his take on Modern Asian cuisine.

The menu at Pao is broken down into several sections: crudos, small plates, charcoal grilled meats and vegetables, rices and big sharing plates. If you go I recommend you share everything with everyone in your party so you can all sample some of Chef Paul’s genius. He draws on his native Filipino food influences along with Spanish, Japanese and French cuisine creating his one unique menu that includes unicorn! One of his signature dishes the “Unicorn” is uni (sea urchin) in a roasted corn pudding (uni\corn get it!) served in a spiky sea urchin shell. The dish pays homage to the $6 million Damien Hirst gold leaf unicorn statue that watches over the glamorous dining room. Our waiter says it’s the most photographed dish on the menu!

Pao is a little decadent, yes. But if you’re a foodie this place is NOT TO BE MISSED.

P.S. If you do go to Pao check out Faena’s C’est Rouge cabaret show after dinner. It’s a great way to cap off your fantasy meal.
