Painting with a Twist is a fun way to let out your inner Picasso as you paint and drink. Normally you go to the teacher’s studio and bring your own bottle, but the Fontainebleau on Miami Beach is upgrading the experience this summer. They’re serving up the drinks and food with everything else you need for a fun night out.
This is “Painting with a Twist” — a fun art class held every Thursday evening at the Fontainebleau on Miami Beach…
Josh Herman: “We have 20 oceanfront acres here. We try to fill every inch of it with something fun for guests to do. So we’re here at La Côte on the upper level overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and a perfect place to enjoy Painting with a Twist.”
You don’t have to be an artist to participate.
Eric Patrick: “Painting with a Twist is kind of art-as-entertainment. We teach different paintings step-by-step, so that even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush, you can paint one of these in two or three hours.”
The twist is in La Côte’s Rose’ to help loosen you up.
Eric Patrick: “We call it liquid courage, ’cause if you have a glass of wine, then you’re not afraid of what we call ‘blank canvas anxiety.'”
Just don’t overdo it…
David Sexton: “Can I have everyone’s attention? Please make a mental note now — which is your wine cup and which is your paint water.”
First step — pick a painting you’d like to do — maybe a beachy paradise — a nautical theme — or the famed Fontainebleau! It’s just $50 and everything’s provided — paint and brushes, aprons, canvas and easel, the wine and some light bites too.
Eric Patrick: “Most people don’t think they can paint at all, but the truth is you can if you just follow along step-by-step.”
Just follow the teach. He’s got you covered even if you mess up, and before long, you’re painting like a boss!
Each painting has it’s own little twist — and that’s a good thing.
Eric Patrick: “Even though everybody is getting the same set of instructions, the paintings just always naturally turn out different.”
So even if the original looks a certain way, each new expression will be alike — but original in its own way too.
