MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Ocean Drive Magazine celebrated the official kickoff of Miami Swim Week with a party at the Delano hotel on South Beach, Thursday night.
Every year, the magazine has a swimsuit edition and this year’s cover model, Hannah Ferguson, was at the party. She and Ocean Drive Editor-in-Chief Jared Shapiro spoke to 7News.
“It’s Swim Week,” Shapiro said. “It’s really sort of the launch into several big days of Swim Week.”
Ferguson, who has also appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, said she loved how the cover came out. “It’s always tricky with covers, you’re not sure what you’re going to get, necessarily,” Ferguson said. “With this one, I definitely lucked out. I love it.”
The Texas native shared some of her secrets for a cover photo shoot.
“For me, I think the best thing I can do is stay in shape, because if my body is in shape, and I’m confident and feeling comfortable, then I can just go with the flow,” she said.
Shapiro was also excited about the cover.
“I think it’s beautiful. We knew it would be,” Shapiro said. “When we were looking at Hannah Ferguson, we’re always thinking about Swim Week Miami, Swim Week Miami. How do we, for July, really catch what’s going on in summer in Miami?”
Miami Swim Week runs until Monday.
