It was all about the “dolce vita” Tuesday night at the White House. The Obamas hosted the Italian prime minister and his wife, as well as a few lucky celebs.
President Obama hosted his final White House state dinner, and he went out with a star-studded bang.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton entertained the guests with a duet, while they savored Chef Mario Batali’s italian cooking.
Jerry Seinfeld: “We’re Jews, but we identify as Italian. We spend a lot of time traveling in Italy, and we almost exclusively go out for Italian food.”
That’s comedian Jerry Seinfeld explaining why he was invited to the dinner.
But that wasn’t the key question of the night.
Reporter: “Who are you wearing?”
This was.
Alexandra Wentworth: “Oh, thank you! J.Mendel and Céline shoes. And fake diamond earrings, and a real engagement ring and wedding band from George Stephanopoulos.”
Too bad George wasn’t having any of it.
Alexandra Wentworth: (to George) “What are you wearing? What? He wants me to leave. Baby Gap, probably.”
Stephanopoulos wasn’t the only one with a mysterious attire. Rachael Ray didn’t know who she wore, either.
Rachael Ray: “I honestly have no idea, but I just ripped it, whatever it was.”
Turns out the celebrity chef had a little wardrobe malfunction. It happens.
Rachael Ray: “I just tripped coming up the stairs and somebody had to go get scissors to cut out the lining. I think I should only come here in sneakers.”
