When there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? It’s been 27 years since the last “Ghostbusters,” but an all-new, all-female cast is here to answer that very question. They were in Miami on Monday and took some time out of their busy schedule of busting ghosts to chat with Deco’s Chris Van Vliet.

Michael McDonald (as Jonathan The Theater Manager): “No one should have to encounter that kind of evil. Except you girls. I think you can handle it.

Leslie Jones (as Patty Tolan): “Oh, good. Thanks.”

Ghosts are terrorizing New York City, so who you gonna call?

Chris Hemsworth (as Kevin): “Ghostbusters.”

Chris Hemsworth is the not-so-bright receptionist, and the Ghostbusters here are four women: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

Melissa McCarthy (as Abby Yates): “Something big is going to happen.”

Kate McKinnon (as Jillian Holtzmann): “The word we’re looking for is apocalypse.”

Chris Van Vliet: “Was there a moment on set where you guys went, ‘I am a Ghostbuster!'”

Melissa McCarthy: “When we all came out and we were together, for the first time in our suits, with the proton packs and all the gear and the gloves and we put everything on, like, I got goose bumps.”

If you’re a Ghostbusters fan, you’ll be happy to know there are some great references to the first two movies slipped in, but this one stands on its own, equal parts funny and entertaining.

Melissa McCarthy (as Abby Yates): “Oh, you didn’t disclose that the vehicle was going to be a hearse.”

Leslie Jones (as Patty Tolan): “It’s a Cadillac!”

Chris Van Vliet: “What is it like wearing the proton pack?”

Kate McKinnon: “We wish we had one so we could demonstrate.”

Chris Van Vliet: “That would be like a boyhood dream come true.”

Leslie Jones: “Then that question would be so answered.”

Chris Van Vliet: “So it’s heavy, it’s awkward.”

Leslie Jones: “And it’s dangerous. It’s sharp. It’s got the corners, and the metal — we scraped a lot of people.”

Kristen Wiig (as Erin Gilbert, to ghost): “Hello.”

Ghost: (hurling slime): “Ahhhh!”

Melissa McCarthy (as Abby Yates): “That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”

Chris Van Vliet: “Kristen, what is the slime like?”

Kristen Wiig: “Umm, moisturizing? It’s tough. No, the idea of it is so fun, because it’s such a big part of the first two movies. But ultimately, I feel like it’s tough to get off. We can leave it there.”

Chris Van Vliet: “Does it have a certain odor to it?”

Melissa McCarthy: “Like, if you boil a root vegetable…”

Kristen Wiig: “And add Pledge.” (laughs)

Kristen Wiig (as Erin Gilbert): “Someone is creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity, and we might be the only ones who can stop it.”

Chris Van Vliet: “Is it exciting coming into a franchise like Ghostbusters that was so wildly popular, or is it a little daunting because you know people are going to compare it to the original?”

Kate McKinnon: (sings) “It’s exciting and it’s daunting. It’s both at the same time.” (laughs)

Leslie Jones: “That was awesome!”

Chris Van Vliet: “Can we sing another song?”

Kate McKinnon: (sings) “I’m a man in a purple suit, and I have a blue tie. Little fishies on my socks, and then dead fish next to them!” (laughs)

Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters” opens in theaters on Friday, July 15.
