When it comes to food, April is the most comforting month. This month, we celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month.

Two South Florida eateries are serving up their own versions of a comfort food that never goes out of style.

Ah, the ooey gooey taste of our childhood.

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: " It’s a classic American memory that people grow up having, whether your mom made it for you, or maybe it was the first dish that you cooked."

This April, Izzy’s Fish and Oyster on South Beach is offering their versions of grilled cheese — for adults.

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: "We have three decadent grilled cheese sandwiches. The first one is definitely getting back to our New England roots here at Izzy’s. It’s a fried clam belly croque madame."

Say "oui" to this French-American creation.

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: "Fried ipswich clam bellies with a gruyere cheese sauce, fried egg, little bit of freshly cut chives on hallah."

Cheers to that.

Next …

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: "We have a surf and turf lobster melt with Wisconsin sharp cheddar, applewood smoked bacon and a little bit of lobster butter and poached main lobster."

Chef says pair it with a nice rose and, if you’re more the tuna melt kind —

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: "We’re doing a variation on the classic American tuna melt, but we’re using New England blue crab, and little bit of white cheddar. We’re doing it on toasted brioche and fresh cut parsley."

A nice shandy will do good with this one.

William Crandall, Izzy’s Grilled Cheeses: "The crab has a bit of citrus mixed into it and the lemon flavors of the shandy help pair very well."

In Wilton Manors, New York Grilled Cheese knows how to give you the sandwich of your dreams.

There’s a mouth’s worth of chewy choices in this place. Feast your eyes upon their latest creation: The Midtown Truffle Shuffle.
