Out on DVD today is “Hello, My Name Is Doris” starring “New Girl’s” Max Greenfield. And when we talked to Max, we had to get the scoop on the new girl in his life … Doris.
Sally Field (as Doris): “I hope I don’t end up like one of those weird New Yorkers who chokes on a peanut and dies and no one misses you.”
Say hello to Doris … and hi to the object of her affection — John.
In “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” Sally Field plays Doris, an eccentric, single woman.
Max Greenfield: “It is sort of a coming of age film for a woman in her 60s.”
And, Max Greenfield is John — her new co-worker, and the man who opens her mind and her life to new experiences.
Max Greenfield: “He’s in a similar situation to she is. I think that he is new to New York and new to this job and feeling like he’s alone.”
Doris may seem smitten with John, but in reality, they’re both looking for the same thing.
Max Greenfield: “What starts as an infatuation becomes a real friendship, and I think a beautiful one at that.”
In the flick — Doris has crazy thoughts about John. In reality — Max was having crazy thoughts about Sally Field.
Max Greenfield: “There were some nerves at the beginning of like … we are working with a truly iconic actor right now.”
Max isn’t new to acting … he’s Schmidt on “New Girl,” but working with an Oscar-winning legend like Sally wasn’t something he took for granted.
Max Greenfield: “I think really what makes the film so special is Sally and her performance.”
Speaking of “New Girl” — Schmidt is hitched!
Max Greenfield: “Writers started writing season six this week. I’m not sure what is going to happen because Schmidt is now married and it feels like a new chapter for him and I’m excited to see what that looks like.”
Season six of “New Girl” is still a few months away, but you can see “Hello, My Name Is Doris” on home video now.
