Anybody who knows me knows I don’t get to Broward County too often. I mean I’ve got nothing against the 954 it’s just… just… I don’t really know why. Maybe I just need an excuse to cross the county line. So when I heard about Louie Bossi’s opening on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale I thought "there’s the perfect excuse." I rang up my 2 childhood besties (and Broward residents) Lucy and Leslie and off I went to Fort Lauderdale.

Let me just say this place was slammed on a Saturday night. We were there over 2 hours and it never slowed down. If you like a good scene you’re in the right place. If you like some good food with that scene well then come on down (or is it up)??? We started with a caprese salad ($11) the mozzarella was creamy, the tomatoes ripe. We were off to a good start. Can’t go to an Italian joint and not try the meatballs so we tried the meatballs ( $11) made from pork, beef and veal. Louie Bossi has a wood burning pizza oven so we tried a slice of pizza al taglio ($16). It’s served on focaccia bread with no sauce, just cheese, prosciutto and arugula. Needless to say by now I was full but I had to have some pasta so out came the rigatoni ($22) alla bolognese with bits of braised beef and veal in the sauce. The good news: I was stuffed, happy and sleepy after a good old fashioned Italian meal. The bad news: I had to drive back to Miami-Dade county. Mama Mia!!!!
