When it comes to restaurants Stephen Starr is a star. He is one of the country’s top restaurateurs with acclaimed eateries up and down the east coast. Now with the addition of Le Zoo in Bal Harbour, his 4th restaurant in South Florida, he’s added another star to his culinary galaxy.
If I didn’t know any better I’d think I was actually in Paris. The French brasserie is fashioned after a Parisian sidewalk cafe and one look around and you’re transported. The look is totally French and the food also features some classic cuisine to match. Onion soup gratinee ($12.50) steak tartare ($17) foie gras ($15) escargots ($14) all the French faves are on this menu. The salade de tomates ($12) so fresh it’s as if you can taste every herb in every bite you take. Steak frites ($28) they’ve got it. The steak moist, served with a little butter on top and french fry frites perfection on the side. Pasta fans the king crab angel hair ($25) made with crème fraîche, is not to be missed. And for those looking for a fish dish the classic trout amandine ($25) with crispy skin is just tres’ magnifique.
Maybe you can’t afford a trip to Paris but get yourself over to Le Zoo for the next best thing. Your taste buds will thank you.
