For better or worse, when Kanye West does something — anything, really — the result always feels like something Kanye West would do. Which is exactly how we would describe the fashion show for his new Yeezy collection.

This is what the unveiling of Season 4 of Kanye West’s Yeezy fashion line at New York Fashion Week looked and sounded like as it streamed live on “Tidal.” A lot of people said the music Kanye chose kind of sounded like whales.

Kanye took over Four Freedoms Park on New York City’s Roosevelt Island to show off his new line. The show featured models dressed in beige and whites standing in a perfect triangle in the park, while other models walked a runway.

But the show was surrounded by controversy even before it started. In the days before, people were outraged when Kanye tweeted out a casting call asking for “multiracial women only.”

To get to the show, fashion critics and fans complained about the hour-and-a-half-long bus ride. It was so hot during the show that one model passed out and another struggled with broken heels.

To say Kanye’s show wasn’t well received would be a massive understatement. It has been called everything from a “disaster,” to a “hot mess,” to “hell on Earth.”
